William "Bill" M. Spires, age 83, of Canal Winchester, OH, passed away on September 23, 2017. He was born June 30, 1934 in Gallipolis, OH to the late Lloyd and Burris Spires. He was presented with the Kentucky Colonel Title, was a member of the Columbus Advertising Federation, Past President of the Dispatch Country Club and Co-founder of the Canal Winchester Labor Day Celebration. Bill performed in the Gallia Country Outdoor Musical as Daniel Boone, announced Canal Winchester Marching Band for 10 years, Past President of Canal Winchester Lions Club, Past District Governor of Ohio Lions and retired from Columbus Dispatch after 38 years of employment as an artist, Assistant Retail Advertising Manager and Sales Promotion Manager. Preceded in death by his two sisters Mary and Evelyn, brother Stanley and son-in-law Jeff Robertson. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Spires; son, Kevin (Carol) Spires; daughter, Lisa Robertson; three grandchildren, Cory (Miranda) Spires, Katelynn Spires and Aaron Robertson; and furry companion, Annie. Family and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 29, at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Alex Feldman will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, at the funeral home.
