Green John C. Green. On January 24, 2014, John C. Green made his immortal journey to be with God. Born to the late Rose Green and Sam Rivers. John C. confessed Christ at an early age at East Salem Baptist Church in Selma, AL. In 1954 John C. married Dorothy Lee Clark and moved to Detroit, MI. Though this union was brief, it was blessed with one child, Gwendolyn Delores. John C. would continue to work in various jobs in the factories and as a cook before moving to Columbus, OH in the Early 1980's. In Columbus John C. met, fell in love and married Juanita Smith on April 10th 1984. John C. joined the Reeb Hosack Baptist Church and became a faithful member of the choir until his health declined. Preceding John C. in death were his parents Rose and Sam, three brothers L.C., Willie, and Hardy Green, and one sister Idalle Green. He leaves to mourn his memory his wife, Juanita; daughter, Gwendolyn (Charles) Primous of Detroit, MI; granddaughters, Charlyn (Joseph) Vandeventer of Chicago, IL and Christina (Christopher) Morton of Raleigh, NC; niece, Nianzia (Glenn) Sanders of Columbus; sisters, Idell Bradley, Nettie Shrine, and Annie Lois all of Selma, AL; close friends, Richard "Bud" Byrd, Glasson Nartenia, Mr. and Mrs. Garnes and Donna Bates and family; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral service Saturday 10 a.m. Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church, 258 Hosack St., Dr. John S. Little, officiating, where the family will receive friends 9 a.m. until the time of service.
