Acord Douglas M. Acord, age 80, of Newark, died February 9, 2014 and was born April 19, 1933 in Newark. Doug started as a Patrolman and retired as a Detective from the Newark City Police Dept. He was a member of the F&AM Newark Lodge #97 as a 32nd Degree Mason, an active member of Demolay and at Newark Teheran Grotto. Surviving is his wife, Carole (Palmer); children, Christine (John) Bailey of Newark, Wilda Armstrong of Newark, Thomas Houston of Utica and Leah (Greg) Keller of Groveport; four grandchildren, Kim (Brad) Wright, Jennifer (T.J.) Parker, Katie (Damon) Jenkins and Dylan O'Connell; great-grandchildren, Keenen and Torrin Jenkins, Trinity, Skylar and Slaid Parker and Brady Wright; son-in-law, Brian O'Connell of FL; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kaye and Reese Alban of Newark and Charles Palmer of AZ; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by daughter Andrea Carole O'Connell, great-grandson Griffin Jenkins.
