Ruth R. Larocca Obituary
Larocca Ruth R. Larocca, 86, of Columbus, Ohio, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 9. 2014. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Hattie and Alfred N. Rosborough on January 14, 1928. Ruth married Elia M. Larocca in New York, New York on April 3, 1954. Ruth lead an active life in community affairs in Newburgh, New York and Fresno, California. While living in Fresno, she was a published columnist for the Fresno Bee, a major West Coast newspaper, writing about race relations over the course of half a century. She and her husband, moved to Columbus, Ohio in April 2003. A gifted artist throughout her life, she enjoyed painting scenes of Japan, of Native Americans, and nature using watercolor, oil and pastels. She also wrote poetry and enjoyed playing the piano. Ruth is survived by her husband, Judge Elia M. Larocca of Columbus, Ohio; her son, Lawrence J. and his wife, Mary Ahenakew of New Windsor, New York; daughters, Miriam Larocca of Connecticut, and Yvette Larocca of Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii; and grandsons, Milo Ahenakew and Brenden Ferraro, both of Los Angeles, California. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Zusman Hospice. A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 with visitation 1 hour prior at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St., Columbus, OH 43215. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in memory of Ruth Larocca to the ASPCA, 424 E. 92nd St, New York, NY 10128-6804. Mom, we love you and miss you, Al, Miriam, Yvette, and Larry.
