Lawrence George Cummings Obituary
Lawrence George Cummings, age 76, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014. He was born November 17, 1937 in Buffalo, New York to the late Frank and Frances Irene (Black) Cummings. Larry was known by many as "Santa Clause" or KA8HEO. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran. Larry retired from The Ohio State University Research Foundation after 32 years of service as a photography laboratory technician. He was a frequent patron of the former Stan's restaurant with "The Old Codgers". Larry was a ham radio enthusiast and was a member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) and The Central Ohio Radio Club (CORC). He was a member of St. James the Less Catholic Church and a former member of their choir. Larry was also a former member of the Grandparents Living Theater. He was passionate about photography and always took his camera everywhere that he went. During Christmas time, he celebrated by making buckeyes and beer bread and giving them away. He was a diehard Ohio State fan. In the summertime, you could find him tending to his vegetable garden. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Laura Cummings. Larry is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Pat; daughters, Theresa (Mike) Pangborn and Mary Christine Ott; son, Tom (Shelly) Cummings; grandchildren, Corey (Lindsay) Pangborn, Jeff Pangborn, Michaela Pangborn, Maggie (fiancé Mike Weakley) Cummings, Joe Cummings and Miles Cummings; great-granddaughter, Lilly Weakley; brother, Pierce Cummings; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12Noon Thursday at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1652 Oakland Park Ave., Columbus with Fr. Clarence Williams, celebrant. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
