Carol Ann O'Molesky Obituary
O'Molesky Carol Ann O'Molesky, née Klopfer, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio, the terminus of a long and inspiring battle with cancer. She was born on January 6, 1948 in Newark, New Jersey into a family with deep roots in the coal mining community of Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains, growing up alongside two older sisters Betty and Janet and three older brothers Jack, Fred, and Charles. Her education at St. Peter's Orphanage in Newark's South Ward, and at Archbishop Walsh High School in Irvington, New Jersey, helped forge lifelong friendships and an abiding Roman Catholic faith. Later, she would work for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company in Newark, and for the RCA Corporation in Somerville, New Jersey. It was on June 14, 1969, at St. Leo's Church in Irvington, that she married Mark Frank O'Molesky, and she would bear two sons, Gregory and Matthew, in 1973 and 1982 respectively. Frequent moves would follow, and Carol would live in Massachusetts, California, Pennsylvania, Texas, and again in New Jersey before retiring to Ohio to be near family. For pleasure, she travelled with her family - immediate and extended - throughout Europe, with numerous trips to Great Britain, Ireland, France, Italy, Austria, Germany, and the Low Countries. In her spare time, Carol was a voracious reader (particularly of mysteries), a connoisseur of BBC literary adaptations, and an avid crossword puzzler. But she will be remembered, above all, for her devotion, her patience, and her untold acts of kindness as a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She is predeceased by her parents John Klopfer and Mary Klopfer, née Johnson, as well as by her brothers Jack and Fred Klopfer. Her memory will be cherished by those who survive her, including Mark, her husband of forty-four years; her sons, Gregory and Matthew; her daughters-in-law, Debra and Caroline; her grandchildren, Marlowe and Vera; and her siblings, Betty, Janet, and Charles. Viewing hours will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Saint Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Road, Columbus, Ohio. Fr. M. Edmund Hussey, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol's name can be sent to the OhioHealth Foundation's Hospice/Kobacker House giving program. Visit www.schoedinger.com to share memories or condolences.
