Evans (Thompson) Ruth (Kockentiet) Thompson Evans, 99, passed away Thursday February 20, 2014. Born September 8, 1914 in Mt. Healthy, Ohio to the late George and Wilhemenia Neibling Kockentiet. Married to Robert Thompson in 1936, Ruth was devoted to her husband, children and her church. In 1949 the family moved to Sawmill Road in the Dublin area where she was active in school and church activities. She taught Sunday School, was president of the Shamrockers Club, and involved in numerous church functions. She worked many years as a ward secretary at Ohio State University Hospital. She loved to cook and was good at it! In 1981, five years after husband Bob passed away, Ruth married Bert Evans. Bert, and daughter-in-law Judylynne Thompson preceded her in death. In 2002, she moved to Dublin Retirement Village where she made many good friends. Her three children survive Ruth, Bob Thompson of Clintonville, Judi Odell (Ron) of Alpine, CA, Bill (Vicki) of Wilmington, NC; and stepdaughter, Judy (Evans) Daum. She leaves eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, at THE RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington. Ruth's funeral will be held Friday, February 28, at the Dublin Community Church Chapel, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Ruth's memory to Dublin Community Church, 81 West Bridge Street, Dublin, OH 43017.
