Johnson Gilbert Adrian Johnson, age 89, of Columbus, Ohio. Our loving husband and father passed away on March 2, 2014. Born in Somerton, Ohio, May 6, 1924. Graduated from Barnesville High School, Barnesville, OH. He received his Bachelors degree from Ohio University, Athens, OH and his Masters degree from the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. Veteran World War II US Navy where he served in the South Pacific. He was a teacher, coach, and administrator in Hebron, Utica, Lebanon, Alexandria and Pataskala, Ohio. He retired in 1981 as Superintendent of the Whitehall City Schools. Gib was an avid golfer, and a member of Eagle Eye Golf Course. Lifetime member of VFW and Hebron Lodge #116 F&AM. Preceded in death by his parents Cline Johnson and Ona Johnson Taylor, stepfather John Taylor. Gib is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty A. Shepherd Johnson; children, Kathryn A. Johnson (Gregory Fields), Gilbert A. (Joan M.) Johnson, II, Thomas A. (Teri) Johnson, and Janis A. (James T.) Johnson Eckstein; grandchildren, Karen (Tony) Johnson Braddock, Eric M. (Carman) Johnson, Tracy (Eugene) Johnson Friar, Travis (Lisa) Johnson, Laura E. (Sean) Hagedorn, Angela C. (Christopher) Miller and Michael A. Eckstein; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, Ethan, Izabella, Aiden, Ryan, Addison, Jacob, Kadynce, and Reese. Friends may call Thursday 5-7 p.m., EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., where funeral service will be held Friday 12Noon. Rev. Toby Cambron officiating. Entombment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Zangmeister Center, 3100 Plaza Properties Blvd., Columbus, OH 43219. Masonic service Thursday 6:45 p.m.
