Ruth Roger V. Ruth, age 79, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, March 3, 2014. He was born October 22, 1934 to the late Robert and Eunice Ruth in Shade, Ohio. Roger was the hardest working man you'd ever meet; working most of his life in the construction industry. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and became a Paratrooper. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1959. He worked several years as a milkman for Borden's. He then began working for his high school friend, Bill Beck at Beck Masonry. In 1981, he began working for the Paul Vlack Company, retiring in 1996. He was a perfectionist at his job and after retirement, everywhere he went he was always looking at the quality of the work completed on any building and rarely was it done to his satisfaction. Roger was always doing something for someone else and never asked for anything in return. His personality always brought out a smile and laughter in others and was everybody's favorite uncle and friend. Roger was an avid bluegrass and old time country music lover, listening to the many hits of Hank Williams, Ralph Stanley, and many more. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers Wayne, Russell (Doc) and Dick, three sisters Margaret, Doris, and Jo-Ann, and grandson Nicholas. He is survived by his ex-wife, Mary Ann Ruth; three children, Regina (Barry) DeWitt, Linda Ruth and Bill (Leslie) Ruth; six grandchildren, Robyn, Kristyn, Hunter, Alex, Natalie and Conner, great-grandson, Landon; brother, Jack; sisters, Roberta (Mel) Futrell and Sue (David) Williams; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ruth; and cousin, Jane Simcoe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110 on Friday, March 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, at the funeral home.
