Levey Irene Sonkin Levey, age 86, passed away on March 6, 2014. Preceded in death by her parents Herman and Sonya Sonkin, son Mark Levey, brothers Jake, Norman, Marty and Julius, Sylvia Lembark and Rachel Shifman, nieces Mona Hirsch and Sandra Hamrick, nephew Kenny Haas. She is survived by her husband, Irving Levey; daughter, Carol Boster (Mark Kotler); grandchildren, Julie (Jasmine) Boster and Aaron (Krissy) Boster; great grandchildren, Jaden, Devin, Maxwell and Betty; sisters-in-law, Maxine Haas and Fanette Sonkin; many nieces and nephews. Lifetime resident of Columbus and very active in the Columbus Jewish Community. Irene was a Sunday School Teacher at Congregation Agudas Achim for many years and was the first President of Gallery Players. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 7 at THE EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. with Rabbi Michael Ungar officiating. Shiva will be observed at the Levey residence on Friday following interment and Sunday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Research Fund #311360 at OSU Wexner Medical Center.
