Culbertson Richard Eric "Rick" Culbertson, age 69, of Pickerington, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Grant Medical Center. Born July 13, 1944 in Columbus to the late Ronald D. and Elsie E. (Richards) Culbertson, he was a 1962 graduate of Bexley High School and served in the U.S. Army. After graduation from Columbus Police Academy in 1967, he served on the Columbus Police Department until his retirement. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley, the FOP, and was a lifetime member of the Shamrock Club. He loved doo wop music, telling stories and used cars. Rick is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years, Pat Culbertson; children, Richard (Missy) Culbertson, Jr., Huber Heights, Jason (Jen) Culbertson, Columbus, Amy (fiancé, Jeff Lawler) Culbertson, Pickerington, Sean (Sarah) Culbertson, Pickerington; grandchildren, Richard "Ricky" (Amy) Culbertson, III, Cory, London, Josh, Cullen, Keaton and Quinn Culbertson, and Aidan Gallagher; great-grandsons, Richard Eric IV and Dylan Culbertson; brother, Ronald (Sally) Culbertson, Jr., Bexley; mother-in-law, Virginia May, Westerville, and the May family; nieces, Christy and Cathy Culbertson; and nephew, Todd Hartman. Preceded in death by his son Jonathan Culbertson and sister Melinda Hartman. Friends may visit 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. N. (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 E. Main St., Bexley with Pastor Tim Iseringhausen officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. The family extends a special thanks to the CCU/ICU doctors, nurses and staff at Grant Medical Center for their care of Rick.
