Arnel Maltezo Viernes Obituary
Viernes Arnel Maltezo Viernes, of Upper Arlington, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the age of 48 after a brief but courageous fight with leukemia. Arnel, the son of Felina Carpio and the late Domingo Viernes, grew up in Gilroy, California. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was employed by JP Morgan Chase. Arnel was a dedicated husband and father who cherished his family above all else. He enjoyed playing and watching all sports including basketball, tennis, golf, football, and fishing, and was a supportive coach to his children, in both sports and life. Arnel provided encouragement to all who knew him through his positive, respectful, and loving nature. He was a decent, hard-working, and loyal man, a loving husband, a supportive father, and a strong friend. Arnel will be dearly missed by his wife, Jennifer Viernes; children, Sara and Kevin Viernes; mother, Felina Carpio; brothers, Rainier (Maria), Ronald, and Jesus "Jesse" (Elizabeth) Viernes; sister, Chona Viernes; and many other extended family members and dear friends. The family will receive friends at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014. Father Nicholas Droll will preside over funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kobacker House, c/o Ohio Health Foundation, 180 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215 or The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, The Ohio State University Foundation, 1480 West Lane Avenue, Columbus, OH 43221. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to send condolences and share memories.
