Hammond Clifford Hammond, passed away Monday at his home. Cliff was born in Delta, KY, in 1933 to the late Denny and Beulah Hammond, the 8th of 18 siblings. He meet his bride Donna in Bedford, IN; married in 1952 in Chicago, IL. They later migrated to Columbus with their sons Denny and Bryan, where they made their life long home on the Westside. Denny married Jodi and were graced with three grandchildren, Ian, Seth and Chloe. Bryan married Vanessa. Clifford and Donna enjoyed family get together's and never missed the reunions with his multiple siblings. Cliff started the STONE CENTER in 1965 and the current NORTH SHORE STONE with business partner Williard Jakeway in 1996. During his long years in the stone industry he worked on such stone projects as The State House Annex, The Wexner Arts Center and the recycling of the stone from the Old Ohio Penn. The "Old Man" with the Stetson, cigar and a dog in tow made many friends of his customers sharing not only the knowledge of his trade but more than a few tales of life. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City. Interment will follow Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Monticello, KY.
