Guy J. Marcelain Obituary
Marcelain Guy J. Marcelain, 76, passed away at Kobacker House, April, 18, 2014, following a brief illness. Born August 6, 1937 in Waukegan, Illinois, Guy moved to Newark, Ohio at age 10, where he graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School, class of 1955. In 1957, Guy married Molly (Evans) Marcelain and together they raised four children and instilled in them an appreciation of advanced education. He was a source of good advice, but only when asked. After a short time with the Air Force and some other businesses, Guy made his career with Columbus Life, retiring as Director of Agency Relations. Guy enjoyed traveling with the Company to meet their agents all over the United States. After retiring from Columbus Life, Guy enjoyed working at the Schottenstein Center and Ace Hardware in Upper Arlington, as well as traveling to the casinos, before they came to Ohio. Guy was a member of the Guild Athletic Club, an avid Buckeye fan, football tailgater and season ticket holder for OSU women's basketball. Guy and Molly were able to travel to see the Buckeyes play in sunny locales and were regular subscribers to the Otterbein theater series. His family and friends enjoyed Guy's skill on the grill, especially for the holidays. He was also a loyal follower of the Newark Catholic Greenwave, and a former member of the Newark Catholic Athletic Association. Guy's grandchildren gave him many opportunities to follow their athletic efforts at hockey, soccer, swimming, wrestling, baseball, softball, basketball and football, and he didn't miss many. Guy is preceded in death by his parents Ludger and Jean (Martin) Marcelain, mother and father-in-law Anne and David (Sandy) Evans, and brothers-in-law John Blake and Jim Lindskog. He is survived by his wife, Molly; sisters, Christine Lindskog, Gail Blake, and Judy (Dan) Magers; brother-in-law, David Evans; children, Thomas (Leslie), Elizabeth Stiens (Steve), Christin LeMaster and Andrew (Jennifer); grandchildren, Johnathon LeMaster (Emily), Erica Naylor (Kevin), Sydney, Daniel and Grant Marcelain, Hanna (fiancé Jesse McIntosh), Duffy, Luke and Olivia Stiens, Reece and Tate Marcelain; and great-grandson, Patrick Naylor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newark Catholic Foundation or Athletic Association, or St. Agatha Church. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Kobacker House for the care they provided Guy during his stay there. Calling hours will be held 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, Upper Arlington. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Catholic Church, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, St. Louisville, Ohio, at a later date.
