Nye Joy Elaine Nye, 79, of Rockbridge, Ohio, peacefully passed away on April 23, 2014 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Logan. Joy was born July 1, 1934 in Pharisburg, Ohio to Alfred Beck Jolliff and Irma Jollif Troesch. Joy graduated from Magnetic Springs High School; was a Weight Watchers Lecturer for many years; Red Coat for the Ohio State University basketball and football games; entrepreneur of "Cozy Covers"- her own business- making blankets and embroidery; and Longaberger Sales Consultant. Joy was active member of the United Methodist Church. She served on countless committees, Sunday School Teacher, and choir member. She served as Lay Leader for the West Ohio Conference as well as a General Delegate to Regional Conference. Joy is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Carlos E. Nye. She was previously married to James L. Murphy (Columbus) for 42 years; children, Judith Murphy, Jeffrey (Patt Proamploy) Murphy, Jill (Roger Totten) Murphy-Totten, Karen (Michael) Unroe, and Mira (Jack) Cremeans; grandchildren, Jeffery Drew Murphy, Maggie Linn Murphy, Victoria Elizabeth Totten, Vera Ryan Cremeans, and Mackenzie Mae Cremeans; sisters, Jerry Brunton, and JoEsta Whipple; and brother, Milton (Bud) Jolliff. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Jeannie Jolliff and Julia Jolliff. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Rockbridge United Methodist Church in Rockbridge, Ohio with Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery near Jacksonville. Calling hours will be held Sunday April 27, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the HEINLEIN-BROWN FUNERAL HOME in Logan, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The family suggests donations be made in memory of Joy to the Rockbridge United Methodist Church c/o Barbara Goss, 12149 E. Buck Run Rd., Rockbridge, Ohio 43149.
