Hathorn Shirley Marnetha Hathorn, of Columbus, Ohio, passed on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, 1:54 p.m. at St. Louis University Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri. Shirley was born in Columbus, the daughter of the late Raymond and Edna Smith on August 3, 1938. A graduate of Columbus South High School in 1956, she worked at Lazarus and Ft. Hayes, and retired from Defense Construction and Supply Center in Whitehall. She also retired after a long twenty years traveling the country as a military spouse and a dedicated, kind, and giving mother of three. She is survived by her daughters, Tamara (Kevin) Cushing of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Michelle Hathorn of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; son, Reginald (Jennifer Miller) Hathorn III of Savannah, GA; granddaughter, Mika Cushing. We'll miss her dearly but after a long period of poor health she is at peace dancing and doing the many things she enjoyed, unencumbered by pain and the limitations imposed by her illnesses. Mother, know we are not without recognition of all you have done and are eternally grateful. She was an attendant of the Pataskala Church of the Nazarene while living in central Ohio. Our thank you to the Nazarene church community as it gave great comfort and care to Shirley while still living at home. Family and friends may visit and pay their respects Friday May 2 from 5-8 p.m. at O.R. WOODYARD FUNERAL HOME, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, the 3rd of May at the O. R. WOODYARD CO CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St., followed by the interment ceremony at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg, OH.
