Ricks William F. "Bill" Ricks, age 60, of Galena, passed away Tuesday morning, May 6, 2014 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born on January 25, 1954 in Macon, Georgia to the late James and Doris (Newsom) Ricks. He attended the University of Georgia and has a BS Degree and was working as a Chemist for METSS Corp. in Westerville. He was a member of St John Neumann Catholic Church, Buckeye Boat Club, American Chemical Society, American Lubricating Engineers and a University of Georgia Alumni. Bill was a man of strong moral character, very kind, loving gentle and sweet. He was a beloved Husband, loving Dad and great friend. Bill lived to fish and enjoyed fishing so much that he built his own pond and stocked it with fish. Bill was a fantastic cook and was great at making the best guacamole, barbeque chicken, Korean and Chinese dishes. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Janet (Gariano) Ricks and they were married February 25, 1989 in Westerville; daughters, Catherine (Benjamin) Lewis of Worthington, Jennifer Thaman of Cleveland; brother, James (Kathy) Ricks of Bogart, Ga.; parents-in-law, Edward and Elsie Gariano of Deland, Fl.; sisters-in-law, Linda Head of Worcester, NY, Sharon Graves of Spokane, Wa; five nieces and nephews, six great nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, with a Prayer Service at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 9:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9633 SR 37 E., Sunbury with Fr. David Sizemore celebrant. Interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.
