Thompson Shirley A. (Workman) Thompson, passed away at The Ohio State University Hospital on May 25, 2014 in the presence of her family. She was born September 13, 1945 to Dwight and Mildred (Nyhart) Workman at Mercy Hospital and was raised in the Danville area. She was an avid Buckeye and Cincinnati Reds fan. She worked for Martin Memorial Hospital for several years, also Mid-America Management Properties for over 31 years. Member of the Fraternal Order of Police Association 1991-Present. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Lawrence Allen, son-in-law Sean Cherry and brother-in-law George N. Thompson. She is survived by loving husband of 44 years,Charles A. Thompson; daughter, Annett Cherry; son, David (Lynn) Thompson; daughter, Susan (Allen) Lester; grandsons, Zechariah (Liz Richards) Thompson, Dillon (Erin) Lester, Joshua Lester, Mike Powell, John (Monica) Hillyer; sister, Carol Perez; brother-in-law, John D. Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles too many to mention. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stephanie Spielman Foundation. Checks can be made payable to The Ohio State University Foundation, 1480 West Lawn Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43221. Her family will receive friends Thursday, May 29, from 2-4 and 6-8, with a F.O.P. A. service to begin at 6 p.m., at the COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg. Graveside service will be held Friday, at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
