Frederick G. Schluep Obituary
Schluep Frederick G. Schluep, age 84 of Powell, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014. Frederick was born and raised in Columbus, son of the late Theodore and Mary Schluep. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife Violet Mae (Hooker) Schluep, and siblings Ted, Steve, and Bessie. Frederick graduated from Linden McKinley High School and La Roche College. He was a proud U.S. Marine Veteran who served during the Korean War and earned the rank of Corporal. Frederick worked in management in the oil industry for Sinclair, Atlantic Richfield, and retired from British Petroleum. He was a spiritual man who was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the choir. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Clinton Township and a volunteer with Lutheran Social Services. Frederick had a love for golf and played in numerous golf leagues and was a longtime hole captain for The Memorial Tournament. He was a vivacious, witty, and hardworking man who had strong morals and great ethics. Frederick was an Ohio State Buckeye and Worthington Kilbourne fan, who also enjoyed attending dog shows, camping, and drinking a Killians Irish Red beer occasionally. Above all else, Frederick loved nothing more than his family and spending time together with them. He will be greatly missed by his loving daughters, Terri Van Syckle and Patricia (Charles) Watts; faithful companion, Dante'; grandchildren, Jud (Heather) and Stacie (Anna) Van Syckle, and Dax (Carrie), Dustin, David, and Donnay (Dave) Davis; great grandchildren, Kean and Rory Van Syckle; siblings, Marty (Ann), Johnny (Pat), Theresa (Darryl), JoAnn (Jim), Mary Catherine (Bud), and Ronnie (Bev); sister-in-law, Barbara (David) Tingley; brother-in-law, Charlie (Bev) Hooker; nieces, Kelli and Summer Tingley, Robyn (John) and Ashley Freese; nephews, Eric and Chad Hooker and Benjamin Freese; and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2480 W. Dublin Granville Rd. Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. Interment Dublin Cemetery.
