Samuel A. Hawk Obituary
Hawk Samuel A. Hawk, age 94, of Dublin, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Kobacker House. He was born October 23, 1919 in Nelsonville, Ohio, the son of Guy and Mildred Hawk. He graduated from Nelsonville High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1951. Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy as a code breaker in Washington DC. Sam retired as an electrical engineer from Battelle Memorial Institute after many years of service. He was a member of North Broadway United Methodist Church and a longtime member and past President (1981-1982) of the Franklin County Chapter, Ohio Society of Professional Engineers. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Ann (Blosser) Hawk in 2004, sister JoAnn Newman and two brothers Charles William and Tom A. Hawk. Samuel is survived by his two sisters, Esther Haugh and Fran Parker; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Sam was loved and cared for by his many neighbors who considered him "family". He was an avid supporter of Ohio State University athletics, where he and Ann volunteered for several years. Sam was a life member of the OSU Golf Course where he was a member for over 50 years. He loved to travel, especially with Ann and his family visiting all of the 50 states. Special thanks to Riverside Methodist Hospital ICU and Kobacker House for their outstanding care. Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where family will receive friends after 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of service. Rev. Peter Borhauer officiating. Graveside Service at Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a , in his memory.
