Gallogly Kathryn L. "Katie" Gallogly, age 86 of West Jefferson and formerly of Sunbury passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Laurels of Hilliard while surrounded by those whom she loved. She was born on June 8, 1928 in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Charles and Rose Nell (Jones) Whisman. A graduate of Sunbury High School in 1947, she worked as a telephone operator in Sunbury until the birth of her children. A member of the First Baptist Church in West Jefferson and a founding member of the Grace Baptist Church in Sunbury, she was active all church related activities and their missionary club's. For 65 years she was married to Vernor L. Gallogly, whom she adored. And Vernor was just as crazy about her, often commenting that Katie was the love of his life, it was love at first sight. She always went along with her husband on his travel and fishing adventures, which made life interesting. Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved children, Michael (Dawn) Gallogly of Moneta, Virginia, Peggy (Steve) Ledford of Orient, Denise (James) Kaufman of West Jefferson, Deborah (Christopher) Wells of California, Maryland; numerous grandchildren and great -grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Robert (Lois) Whisman of South Carolina; and sister-in-law, Wanita (Charles) Ross of Westerville. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. Services will be observed privately by her family at the DEVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME in Sunbury. Burial followed in Sunbury Memorial Park, next to her husband. Memorial contributions can be made to any hospice organization in her memory.
