Fox Merle M. Fox, 89, of Columbus and former Marysville native died Sunday, June 15, at Westminster Thurber Community in Columbus. He was retired from National City Bank in Columbus. He was a graduate of Marysville High School and an avid Ohio State football fan. Merle was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and served on the USS Pennsylvania in the south pacific theater as a cook. After the war, he and his mother operated a restaurant called "Dotties" in Richwood. He then worked at Kuennings and Mills restaurants and then later at National City Bank. He was born September 17, 1924 in Marysville to the late Lewis P. and Dott L. Martin Fox. He was also preceded in death by a brother Gerald M. Fox. Merle is survived by his nephews, Gerald M. (Susan) Fox of Kinston, NC, Lance K. (Peggy) Fox of High Point,, NC; grandnephews, Lance K. Fox Jr., Gerald M. Fox III; grandnieces, Megan C. Fox of North Carolina, Tracy L. Atilla of Key West, FL; great-grandnephew, Bennett Fox; great-grandnieces, Neslihan, Leyla and Beyza Atilla. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Oakdale Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at the INGRAM FUNERAL HOME, 975 N Maple St., Marysville who is completing the arrangements.
