Peters Mary "Betty" Elizabeth Peters, of Grove City, OH, passed away June 17, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 13, 1928 to Ernest and Florence Sickles in Elm Grove, WV. Graduating from Bellaire, OH high school, she helped in the family business, Sickles Hand Cut glass, until marrying Wayland Peters, when they moved to Grove City, Oh. She was employed by the Lazarus Co. before taking time off to raise her family, and later was employed as Head Cook in the Southwestern-City School District. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Wayland (Pete) Peters, her brothers William Sickles, Ernest (Sony) Sickles, and Herbert Sickles. Survived by her four children, Susan (Dan) Sparks of Grove City, Brian (Truc) Peters of Grove City, Lee (Dawn) Peters of Westerville and Lori (Dale) Lane of Grove City; and her sister-in-law, Pat Sickles; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, going to the Southwest YMCA, volunteering at head start, helping the Grove City Cancer Thrift Store, and being a Girl Scout Leader. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, dolls, salt and pepper shakers, reading mysteries, and cooking cakes, pies and cookies for the grandchildren. Betty was a devoted wife and mother who taught honesty and values and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely. A grave side service will be held 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 at the Concord Cemetery in Grove City, OH. with reception to follow. Family and friends are invited.
