Apple Gene Eleanor Apple, born May 2, 1920. Daughter of Harold Vigus and Cora Gertrude Murphy Vigus. Her husband Victor preceded her in death in 2008. Gene was a graduate of Bethesda Nursing School in Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked as an RN at Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville until she and Victor moved to Dayton where she worked at Grandview Hospital in Dayton. Many years later after their daughters were grown and gone, Gene and Victor moved Lincoln Village and Gene worked at Doctors West Hospital. After retirement they did some traveling and then settled in Avon Park in Florida. After many years the decided to move back to Ohio and settled in Grove City after the death of Victor, Gene went to live with her daughter in Texas. Gene is survived by her daughters, Sondra (Don) Beck of Kaufman, Texas, and Vickie (Frank) Calabrese of Stevensville, Md; three grandchildren, Cynthia (Jeff) McReynolds of Fresno, Ca. Rodney Parks also of Fresno, Ca. and Teri Tracy of San Antonio, Tx; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Scott of Duniden, Fl; a sister-in-law, Betty Vigus of Bellbrook, Ohio; many nieces and a nephew; a very special friend, Dan Booth of Grove City who had kept in touch with Gene for many years with cards and letters. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral at 11 a.m. at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St, Grove City. Interment will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park, Zanesville, Ohio. Online guestbook at
