Benson Orthella A. Benson, 91, of Carroll, died at Winchester Place on Monday, June 23, 2014. She was born in Columbus on January 3, 1923 to the late Reese E. and Nona Z. (Robbins) Harris. Orthella played the piano at Hope United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. A 1941 graduate of West High School. She retired from J.C. Penny Company where she was an assistant manager. She is survived by her sons, James R. (Sally) Benson of Carroll, Harold W. (Sandy) Benson of Bidwell; daughter, Charlotte S. (Michael) Bowers of Columbus; six grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. In addition to her parents, Orthella is preceded in death by her husband Frances W. Benson. Friends may call on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, where a funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Linda Wallick officiating. Interment will follow at Betzer Cemetery.
