George Edward Haney Obituary
Haney George Edward Haney. In Loving Remembrance of George Edward Haney, age 91. Born in Rush, Kentucky on November 11, 1922, he joined Our Lord in Heaven on July 1, 2014. He was one of eleven children born to the late George and Gertrude Haney. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen; Father of Diane (Philip), Robert (Ginny), Rebecca (Mike) and Vickie (Mike); Grandfather of Norman (Lynn), Lisa (Jack) and Ian (Olivia); Great-Grandfather of JR, Kaitlynn, Keelie and Soleil, Liam and Ryan. George started his life in the coal mines, and went to war and came home to start a new life and family with his beloved Helen. He was a proud US Navy Veteran of World War II, July 1943 to June 1946, where he earned the European Theater, Pacific Theater, American Theater Ribbon and American Victory Medal. He worked with The Union Depot Co. for 30 years, and retired from Conrail Rail Road after 10 years of dedicated service. George provided for his family through good times and bad, and had a strong work ethic. He enjoyed making a nice home with Helen and his children, playing golf with his friends and deer hunting with his brother Dan. George has joined his Mother and Father, and his brothers and sisters in Heaven. He made a confession of faith and was baptized. He reconfirmed that belief as time passed and especially as death drew near. It is that belief, and that trust in the Lord, that gives us confidence about his eternal home, waiting to see his wife and children again. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, where his Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. that Saturday afternoon. Pastor John Hays officiating services. Interment, with Military Honors, to be held at Northlawn Memory Gardens in Westerville. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to send messages of condolence to his family.
