Gwendolyn M. Ackley Obituary
Ackley (Collins) Gwendolyn M. Ackley, 85, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, died at the Kobacker House on Thursday, July 3, 2014. She was born on November 11, 1928 in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was a graduate of Portsmouth H.S. and attended Ohio Dominican University. Gwen was a longtime member of the Whitehall Church of the Nazarene where she was a part of many ministries including playing the piano and organ and being a member of the church board. Gwendolyn held many different positions at St. Anthony Hospital and School of Nursing before retiring from the Columbus Area Community Mental Health Center. Gwen was an encourager and people were drawn to her unconditional love. She could always see the good in people. She also had the spiritual gift of hospitality. She is sadly missed by children, Philip (Caron) Collins, Theresa (Clifford) Evans, and Pamela (Philip) Munroe; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce "Midge" Umphrey and Imogene Euth; brother, John (Rometta) Everman; sister-in-Christ, Brenda K. Gould, and many other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ollie Everman, husbands Belmer W. Collins and Ernest W. Ackley, siblings June Flannery, Maxine McCoy, Doug Everman, and Joy Pack. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Whitehall Church of the Nazarene, 739 S. Yearling Rd., with visitation 12:30-1:30 pm. Pastor Jack Johnson and Rev. David McCoy officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Gwen to the Whitehall Church of the Nazarene.
