Lois Mae Wojta Obituary
Wojta Lois Mae Wojta, age 84, of Upper Arlington, Ohio left this world peacefully Friday, July 11, 2014. Lois was born February 12, 1930 in Manitowoc, WI to the late Thomas and Lucille Dirkmann. Lois graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, Wisconsin in 1948. In 1951 Lois received a R.N. degree from the nursing school at St. Mary's hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In April of that same year, Lois married Gerald C. Wojta (now deceased), whom she had attended high school with and began dating after seeing each other at midnight Mass at St. Boniface Catholic church in Manitowoc on Christmas Eve after finishing high school. Lois worked as a nurse at Holy Family Memorial hospital in Manitowoc, Wisconsin before raising seven children, listed below. After her children were raised, Lois returned to nursing, working in the Cardiac Step Down and Oncology Units at the former St. Anthony's hospital on the east side of Columbus, followed by working for the State of Ohio several years at the Crippled Children Services Bureau. Lois was a devout member of St. Andrew's Parish since 1962, where she was a Eucharistic minister for many years. Lois was also past president of the St. Andrew's Women's Club. Lois attended Mass almost every day when she was healthy and able to. Lois helped teach her family how to pray and the value of Catholic faith. Lois was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed running, tennis, swimming and hunting in her younger days. Lois was a member of Scioto Country Club in Upper Arlington, Ohio since 1968 and enjoyed bringing her family there for dinner and Sunday brunches. Lois was past Chairman of The Nine Hole Scioto Ladies Golf Association and valued past player of The Scioto Ladies Tennis Team. Lois most loved being with and spending time with her family who deeply loved her and thought she was the best Mom there could be. Lois will be forever missed by her family and friends. This world lost a great human being but we know that heaven has gained an important addition as she is reunited with her husband Jerry and past family members and friends who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband Gerald. Lois will be missed by her loving children, Pamela, Jerry (Karen), Dan, Jim (Lisa), Ann (Gary) Stempa, Kimberly (Mic) Moore, Melissa (David) Weiss; and grandchildren, Sarah, Travis, Amanda, Hunter, Justin, Luke, Nicholas, Andy, Keegan and Lauren; Lois's brother, Thomas (Delores) Dirkman; cousin, Doris Herbst; many nephews and nieces; sister-in-law, Kay (Frank-deceased) Kadlec; and brother-in-law, Art (Judy) Wojta. Msgr. Stephan J. Moloney and Fr. Michael B. Watson will concelebrate the Funeral Mass on 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Rd., Upper Arlington. Private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lois' memory to the , Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215.
