Robert Gilmore Hadley Obituary
Hadley Robert Gilmore Hadley, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Born in Columbus, Ohio on March 14, 1933 to the late Katherine Gilmore Hadley and Benjamin Franklin Hadley. Predeceased by his wife of 57 years Nancy Eleanor Nida Hadley, and survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Elisabeth N. Hadley and Leonard J. Hernandez, Sarah H. and Louis R. Hildreth and Ruth G. Hadley; grandchildren, Nicholas G. and Julia P. Hernandez and Virginia R. and Constance E. Hildreth; and brothers, Benjamin Hadley Jr (Lydia) and William C. Hadley (Paulette). In 1951 he graduated from Upper Arlington and in 1955 he earned his Bachelor's Degree at Dartmouth College where he was a president of his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta. He spent his professional career as an insurance executive, earning his CPCU designation in 1963. Prior to operating his own agency, Hadley and Associates, he was associated with Turner and Shepherd and Alexander and Alexander. In addition to being active in several insurance organizations, Bob was very active in the Columbus Tennis Association. His love of tennis led him to win several city wide championships. He was a long time member of the Upper Arlington Zoning board, Scioto Country Club and a loyal supporter of the Columbus Speech and Hearing Center and the Ohio School for the Deaf. Bob was a past president of his condo associations in both Florida and Upper Arlington. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22 and 12 noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, with a memorial service beginning at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. A family interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory to the Upper Arlington Special Olympics (www.ua-so.org) or St. Baldricks Foundation (www.stbaldricks.org/donate).
