Joseph August (Jay) Janszen III Obituary
Janszen Joseph (Jay) August Janszen III passed into Eternal Life on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, surrounded by his children and their spouses. Preceded in death by his sweet wife Jeannette, his parents Joseph II and Pauline Janszen from Cincinnati, Ohio. Survived by his six children, Mary Pat (Thomas) Eckenrode, Kathleen (John) Hodges, Joseph IV (Lisa) Janszen, Colleen (Robert) Turner, Michael (Ruth) Janszen, Judy Janszen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Paul (Joyce) Janszen and his sister, Marilee (Gunther) Uhlhorn both from Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduated from Elder High School in 1950 where he met the love of his life, Jeannette, at a sock hop dance and married on June 6, 1953. He earned business degrees from University of Cincinnati and University of Chicago, served in United States Navy in Washington, D.C., worked for Sears Roebuck as an International Buyer for sporting goods, founded Janszen Associates in 1976 and for the next 38 years was a National Sales Rep for numerous companies, including National-Spencer Inc. He was a devoted husband, awesome dad and fun grandpa/great-grandpa sharing stories through his love of music. He was an active member in Vaud-Villities for many years. His strong faith was evident through his involvement with Marriage Encounter, Choir Director at St. Anthony Church, Kairos Prison Ministry, Cum Christo, member of the Church of the Resurrection Contemporary Folk Group, pilgrimages to Medjugorje and the Holy Land, and devotion to our Heavenly Father and Blessed Virgin Mary. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday (TODAY), July 25, at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., New Albany, Ohio, 43054, with a Cum Christo 5th Day service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 26, 10 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection. Fr. Jerome Rodenfels presiding. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following. The family extends a special thank you to Zusman Hospice-Wexner Heritage Village for their loving care.
