Simcox Richard Frederick "Rick" Simcox, age 63, was born January 19, 1951 to Richard and Margaret (nee Webster) Simcox in Philipsburg, PA and crossed over to eternal rest after a lengthy illness on August 7, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital/OSU East Hospital, Columbus, OH with his wife by his side. Rick was preceded in death by his father Richard Simcox and brother Robert Allen Simcox. He is survived by his mother, Margaret (nee Webster) Simcox, whom he so truly loved and displayed the dearest respect and dedication to; his devoted wife, Trina Hillman Simcox; step-daughters, Ivry Carpenter and Victoria Efetevbia; step-son, Marcus Carpenter; step grand-daughter, Jordyn Mikayla Willis; sisters-in-law, Rose Nyanin, Patricia Hillman and Sharlene Purvis; brothers-in-law, Charles, Anthony (Barbara) and Timothy Hillman; best friend, George Dawson; sister, Lynda (Denny) Denochick; nephew, Billy; and niece, Angie. Rick was a loving, giving person, and very kind, but firm. He loved people and they loved him. He always joked that the middle initial in his name really meant "fabulous" and fabulous he was. Rick was raised by loving, dedicated and hardworking parents whom owned a coal mine in the hills of Pennsylvania during Rick's early years of life. The workers always inquired as to when young "Rickie" would be coming to work in the mines. Rick being Rick, let it be known that whenever they installed windows in the mines, then and only then would he join the crew. After a suspicious fire destroyed the mine's tipple, Rick's career in the mining business ended. Rick graduated from Philipsburg Osceola High School, Vale Technical Institute with a degree in Automotive Engineering, and attended Penn State University where he remained a lifelong fan. Rick was a proud member of the US Army Reserve. Throughout his teen and early adult years he was groomed by his parents to take over the next business which was Simcox Trucking in Philipsburg. Rick rose to the occasion where he was appointed CEO of the company and managed a fleet of eighty-five Rigs. After his parents sold the company he began a career with Nationwide Insurance where he was former Director of Claims until illness forced him to take LTD; Former Manager, State of Delaware, Physical Damage; Division Manager State of Delaware, Maryland and D.C.; member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, PA; and past member of the Eagles of Clearfield, PA. Rick enjoyed golfing, swimming, traveling and listening to his collection of male R&B artists. Rick loved sharing stories. The stories were so interesting and amazing that they were sometimes hard to believe, yet just as amazing as he really was. Celebration of Life Service for Rick will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Faith Ministries Church, 2747 Agler Rd., Columbus, OH 43224 where the viewing will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the service at 12 noon, Pastor Gwendolyn Walker, Eulogist. Professional Services entrusted to the WAYNE T. LEE FUNERAL SERVICE, 1370 E. Main St., Columbus, OH 43205, (614) 253-7944. Rick will be shipped to David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home for burial at a later date in the Simcox family plot at Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA. For mobile access to this info and more, TEXT RSimcox to 72727.
