Slack Helen Anne Slack, age 94, of Kenton, died at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Kenton on January 30, 1920 to the late Morris and Cecelia (Bookmyer) Hanawalt. Helen married Eugene Dauphinais and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1968. She then married James Slack in 1970 and he preceded her in death in 1978. Helen was preceded in death by five brothers Donald Hanawalt, John Hanawalt, Dr. Eugene Hanawalt, Dr. Paul Hanawalt, Charles Hanawalt, five sisters Margaret Burwell, Lucille Follansbee, Ruth Brown, Elinore Staley and Mary Leah Williams. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She attended St. Anthony's School in Kenton and graduated from Kenton High School in 1938. Helen was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was on the church council. She was also a member of the ELKS Lodge Ladies Card Club and the Veterans Memorial Park Hardin County Bridge Club. Helen resided in Columbus, and Florida before returning to Kenton in 1989. A Memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father David Young officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
