Gibbs Betty (Young) Neff Gibbs, age 89, of Lancaster, formerly of Ashville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Pickering House, Lancaster. She was born January 18, 1925 at Lockbourne, Ohio, daughter of the late William F. and Fannie M. (Wilson) Young. She served as a cook for years at the Madison Elementary School and retired from Upper Landsdown Golf Course where she worked as manager of the pro shop. Betty was a member of Hedges Chapel, a fifty year member of O.E.S. in Lithopolis and a former member of Ashville Pythian Sisters. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed many golf experiences with the Landsdown Lady Golfers. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Wilbur Neff (1985), 2nd husband Joe Gibbs (2001), son Michael D. Neff, sister Louise Barlow, brother Ralph Young. Survived by her son, Jerry (Sue) Neff of Lancaster; granddaughters, Michelle (Robert) Roach of GA and their children, Jack and Madeline Roach, Amie (Greg) Starkey of FL and children, Trey, Braden and Brock Messbarger, and Angie Neff Gussler, Westerville and her children, Michayla, Stephen and Jaidyn Gussler; great great grandson, Liam Messbarger; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the OLIVER-CHEEK FUNERAL HOME, 420 W. Main St., Ashville and 1 hour prior to service at 2 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at the funeral home.
