Penny Neva Iris (Brewer) Penny, 100, of Columbus, passed away at Doctors Hospital on August 18, 2014. She was born in Vallonia, IN on July 18, 1914 to the late Samuel and Sallie (Waskom) Brewer. She was a graduate of Indiana School for the Deaf in 1935. She retired from Joyce Shoe Company. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of the Deaf. Preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Penny and her four sisters and three brothers. Survived by her children, Patricia (Barry) Ackroyd of Cleveland, Charlene (Kenneth) Calogar of Marblehead, Thomas (Mary) Penny of Coshocton, Richard (Jolene) Penny of Grove City, William (Tammey) Penny of Pickerington; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at the funeral home, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
