John, Richie, Jimmy, Kate, and extended families ... I didn't know about this guest book until tonight and now I have to leave off your dad's name. I hope to have the same chance to write about my memories of him also. What a true jewel Jane was. Her smile will always be in my memory, as well as oatmeal on the stove, and bagels daily. No matter how many of us invaded her homes, both Columbus and Maine she took us in, made sure we had the basics, and then proceeded to enjoy all of us. That is quite a talent and one I still aspire to accomplish. Jane was one classy lady.
I can best sum up my memories of her with advice to us all.

Dear Walter, John, Richie, Jimmy, Kate, and all other family members--Sally called me in tears yesterday, having just returned from the beautiful and moving service for Jane at St. Albans. She was a remarkable person. No one could have had a better next door neighbor than Jane--absolutely dependable, sensible, sensitive, loving and funny. I can't think of her without seeing that warm, wry smile on her face. When I got married, she gave me a mixing bowl and a wooden spoon as a shower present. The bowl is long gone, but I still have the spoon, and think of Jane whenever I use it. I know you will miss her, but I know that each of you embodies so much of her wonderful spirit.

Dear Walter, John, Richie, Jim, and Katie- and to all your dear family members:
My heart goes out to all of you on your loss of your beloved Jane. My life has been touched immeasurably by Jane and her spirit, her laughter- that little twinkle in her eyes when you knew she was going to say something profound that would make you laugh, and just her sweet spirit and presence was so special to me. I will miss her so...
Please accept my sincere condolences. I will look forward to seeing you soon on the shores of Lake Webb.
With my love,
Linda Lou

To Walter and your family. Jane was my Home Economics teacher at Bexley a LONG time ago. She was the one who told me about the profession of dietetics and I credit her influence on my career. I have now been a dietitian for more than 50 years, still working in the field and always satisfied with my choice. Please accept my sympathy on your loss.

We extend our sympathy to you, Walter, and your family. We met you and Jane through the 1918 Club. Jane was a very sweet and friendly person.... you made a beautiful couple! God be with you. Mary Ann & John (Joe) Miller (Columbus, OH)
