ZIMMER Christine Ellen Zimmer, age 58, of Columbus, Oh. and formerly Ithaca, N.Y., died peacefully Sunday, August 2, 2009 at The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital after a heroic battle with breast cancer. She was born August 15, 1950 in Cortland, N.Y., the daughter of Richard and the late Ileen (Fava) Wichelns. She was a graduate of Newark Valley High School and earned her Associates Degree from Tompkins Cortland Community College. Chris was retired from New York State Electric & Gas after a 35 year career in Information Technology. Most recently she enjoyed a consulting position with Limited Brands where she made some special new friends. A loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend, Chris is survived by her two daughters, Holly (Dan) Kehrer of Powell, Oh. and Cathy Baird of Avon, Oh.; grandchildren, Andrew and Jack Kehrer, Vincent Zimmer, Abigail and Alison Baird; sister, Lori (Tom) Carlin of Olyphant, Pa.; brothers, Greg Wichelns of Charlottsville, Va. and Mark Wichelns of Binghamton, N.Y. Chris is also survived by numerous family and friends who will miss her smile, presence, spirit and energy deeply. While on a recent work assignment Chris found a place that was very special to herPortland, Maine. Becky's Diner, here we come! Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the BRIAN ARTHUR STRAUCH FUNERAL HOME, Route 690 and First Street, Spring Brook Township. (Moscow, Pa.). A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, August 7, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 600 Orchard Street, Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Michael Bryant, pastor. Interment immediately following at, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wellness Community Greater Columbus, 10330 Sawmill Parkway, Suite 600, Powell, Oh. 43065 for through them Chris made wonderful friendships and received wonderful support from so many.
