HOESS Ruth Lorene (Devereaux) Hoess, age 77, of Upper Arlington, went home to be with the Lord August 31, 2009. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Hannah Mae Devereaux and her husband Joseph A. Hoess. She is survived by her four children, daughters, Cindy (Martin) Jerge and Mary (Chris) Gardier and twin sons, Joseph C. Hoess and Michael (Lisa) Hoess. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Lauren, Amanda, Michael, Scott, Katherine, Eric, Joey, and Michael; sister-in-laws; brother-in-law; many dear friends; and her cat "Angus". Ruth was born in Columbus, Oh. in 1932 and graduated from North High School. She attended OSU and then worked for the State of Ohio Liquor Board. She married Joseph A. Hoess in 1959. Her love of reading later led her to work at the Lane Road Branch of the Upper Arlington Public Library for 15 years. Ruth was also a member of St. Andrew Parish for 44 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always had a smile on her face and lived a positive, uplifting way of life. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her family to be successful, good and kind people. Ruth radiated honesty, truth, integrity, kindness, dignity, and grace. She was also a strong person who courageously persevered with faith, hope, and a determined resolve. She possessed a strong will and zest for life and lived every day as a true disciple of Jesus. Ruth was a role model for all of us as a mother, a neighbor, a friend and a good citizen. Our only hope is that we can pass on to our children and others just a fraction of her beautiful, loving legacy. She will be forever missed by her children who were all by her side at her passing. Calling hours will be at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43221 on Monday, September 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and a Funeral Mass will be at Holy Name Church, 154 E.
