NEWMAN Eugene F. Newman, Jr. A memorial service for Eugene F. Newman, Jr., age 63, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, at the Heath Chapel of HENDERSON-Van ATTA-STICKLE FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE with Rev. Robert Kimes officiating. Mr. Newman died September 29, 2010 at Diley Ridge Medical Center in Canal Winchester. He was born December 13, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late E. Frank Newman and the late Louise Christine (Hurst) (Newman) Odom. Eugene graduated from Southern Regional High School in New Jersey. He was a champion high school wrestler. He continued to follow his high school wrestling program all of his adult life. He earned a B.A. from Rutgers University and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati. He served with the United States Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan. An inventor and entrepreneur, he held 6 patents. He operated his own business, "Rapid Screen Products", based on his patent processes. He loved the ocean and enjoyed many outdoor activities, including swimming and biking and taking long walks. He loved to listen to music, enjoyed traveling and was an avid Rutgers football fan. Eugene was particularly interested in perfecting his ability to speak French and Spanish and never passed up a chance to try to communicate in either language. He is survived by his spouse, Erin Gaye (McAllister); children, Eric of Chicago, Clinton (Julie) of Seattle, Rachel of Calgary, Alberta, Thomas; and step-daughter, Heidi, both of Columbus; brothers and sisters, Craig (Tina), Keith, Tracy (Heide) and Theresa (Brenda Howell); and nieces and nephews.
