SWEINSBERGER Joan F. Sweinsberger, 89, of Columbus, OH, passed away at the Riverside Methodist Hospital on Monday, January 24, 2011, with her loving family by her side. Joan was born on December 29, 1921 in Columbus, OH, to the late Charles L. and Loretta (Frech) Ims. Joan graduated from the St. Joseph's Academy, class of '39. Shortly after high school she moved to the Washington DC area to work for the O.S.S. (predecessor to the CIA) during WWII, later she briefly lived in New York City and then moved back to the Columbus area. After the war, she met the late Mr. Robert H. Sweinsberger, but it wasn't until January 24, 1948 that he finally talked her into marrying him. They celebrated over 41 years together before his passing in 1990. As said by her children, she was a hard worker and loved to shop. She spent over 20 years working for Talbot's on Lane Ave. Sometimes she worked so she could shop. Joan had a great sense of humor, but at the same time was every part the lady. Whether it was chugging a Stein of beer in Germany or sitting in the back of a convertible cruising down Highway 1 with her daughters, she always held her own. Joan was a deep spiritual person and touched many people in her life time. She taught her family the value of faith and hope.
