POPOVICH Barbara (Allman) Popovich, age 67, of Grove City, passed away at Mt. Carmel Medical Center on October 11, 2011, after an arduous battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, parents Rolland and Elizabeth (Scurlock) Allman, brother Robert Allman and niece Amy Helsel. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Harry Mathews; brother, Charles Allman; sisters, Donna (Lauren) Helsel and Mary (Edward) Williams; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was first and foremost a loving mother who shared a special bond with her daughter. Her career began as a beautician and in 1975 she graduated Valedictorian from Urbana College with her bachelors. Her Teaching career began at Urban Crest Elementary School for SWCS where she met and became friends with many wonderful people. She continued her career with the school district till retirement focusing many years to the Head Start Program. She was an exceptional teacher that loved children and cared for each student and their family as if they were her own. Her Christian faith could be visualized in her countless acts of helping those in need for she knew no stranger. She loved life and embraced each challenge and adversity without malice or complaint. She is loved and will be deeply missed by many close friends and family. Friends may visit on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City. Funeral service will be held 12Noon Saturday at Canaan Land Free Will Baptist Church, 2777 Gantz Rd., Grove City, with Pastors Shawn Beauchamp and George Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Grove City Cemetery. The family would like to thank special friends Ralph and Sandy Perdew and Pastor George Jordan for all of their love and caring and the entire Palliative Care Team at Mt. Carmel Medical Center for their constant support and the excellent quality of care that both Barbara and her family received.
