Ruth Virginia McEwan

McEWAN (KELLY) Ruth Virginia (Kelly) McEwan was born on April 11, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Jessica and Edward F. Kelly. She married Thomas Patrick McEwan on September 17, 1949 and had 4 loving children. After a wonderful life devoted to her family and her Catholic Faith, she passed away on July 2, 2012. Ruth's beloved husband, Tom, of 51 years, predeceased her in February, 2001. Also predeceasing her are her sister Mary Buttler, brother-in-law Carl Buttler, brother Edward F. Kelly and niece Mary Elizabeth Buttler Dauber, sisters-in-law and their husbands Sarah (William) Hendry, Mary (Charles) Kennedy, Bridget (Zygmunt) Miley, and Bert (John) Tupper, brothers-in-law John McEwan, Father James, Father Peter, and Father William McEwan, Andrew McEwan, brother-in-law Frank (Susan) McEwan. and nephew Timothy Tupper. She is survived by her four children, Mary Margaret (Dan) Schneider, Jeanie (Louie) DeTemple, Ann (Charley) Moses, and John (Nancy) McEwan. She had 11 grandchildren who adored her, Brian and Tom (fiancé, Chrissie Pariseau) Schneider; Willie (Megan), John Michael (Sarah), and Tom DeTemple, Christopher and Andrew Moses, Jack, Katy, Molly, and Kelly McEwan. Ruth is also survived by her loving sister, Jessica (Robert) Albanese; sister-in-law, Marilyn Kelly; and brother-in-law, Philip (Frannie) McEwan; and numerous nieces and nephews who faithfully called and visited her during her long illness. Ruth was grateful and deeply touched by their love and attention. We are very thankful to the wonderful nurses, aides and staff at the Sanctuary at Tuttle Crossing, for their warm and dedicated caregiving for our Mother this past year; and to Odyssey Hospice whose dedicated nurses, cared for Mother with compassion and dignity during these past few months. We also want to thank her doctors, Dr. Debra Debaets and Dr. Mark Buddie for their expertise in medication management and geriatric care. Friends may call Thursday 4-8 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. BROAD ST. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Church, 1899 McCoy Rd. Entombment St. Joseph Cemetery.
