PACKARD John William Packard, Jr., 66, of Richmond, joined his heavenly Father on October 6, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents John William Packard, Sr. and Francis Ingram Packard. John is survived by son, Mason William Packard; grandson, William McMillan Packard; daughter, Megan Katherine Packard; and ex-spouse, Shay Packard. John served as Captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked over 20 years as a Hospital Administrator and then served the past 17 years as a Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo. Actively involved in his church, John was serving as an elder at First Presbyterian Church, where he led several bible study, Lenten and small groups. As a gifted helper and administrator, John touched many lives. He served both his church and larger community with a quiet zeal and a deep passion for change and improvement. He became a valued confidant and mentor to so many. And he found such joy in spending time with his children and grandson. John based his life on his Christian values and sought to make a difference in every life he touched. His character was one as described in the "True Gentleman" by John Walter Wayland. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 5-8 p.m. at BLILEY'S FUNERAL HOME, Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, Virginia. A Memorial Service - a Celebration of Life - will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012, 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Richmond, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions be made to "Richmonders Involved to Strengthen our Communities" (R.I.S.C) through the First Presbyterian Church.
