BAILEY Judith Mae Lora Bailey, 77, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. Judy, as she was known, was born on July 20, 1935, in Lima, Ohio, to Neal L. Lora and Mildred Polser Lora. Judy graduated from Bluffton College in 1958 with a degree in Elementary Education, and she taught elementary school in Lima for a number of years, both at Westwood Elementary School and Lima Christian Academy. She also worked for 20 years as an administrative assistant to Ron Amstutz in the Ohio State House and Senate in Columbus. The Ohio State Senate adopted Senate Resolution No. 309 on December 16, 2008, "Honoring Judy Bailey for outstanding service to the State of Ohio." She is survived by her husband of 56 years, George W. Bailey; two children, Mark W. Bailey of Streetsboro, Ohio, and Catherine B. Thacker of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren, Allison Thacker, Matthew Bailey, Neal Thacker, Nathan Bailey, Leah Bailey, Emma Thacker; and her sister, Diane L. Cremean, of Cedarville, Ohio. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church of Columbus, where she sang in the choir and helped provide meals for various needs in the church. Judy was known for her hospitality and cooking ability. She often provided baked goods for coworkers during her career. She entered recipe contests and won many prizes, ribbons, and cash. One notable award was her 2nd place win in the All American Pasta Recipe Contest, sponsored by Woman's Day magazine. She won $2,500 with her Orzo Crab Seashell Salad recipe, which was published in the October 15, 1991 issue of Woman's Day. Family and friends may call at WEIR AREND FUNERAL HOME, 4221 North High Street, Columbus, on Thursday, October 11, from, 3-6 p.m. and at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 12. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Bible Church, 3865 North High Street, Columbus.
