LANNING James William Lanning, 71, of Canal Winchester, died on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born to the late Wilber and Ruth Lanning of Logan, OH, James was a graduate of the Ohio State University and the University of Dayton, a Lifetime Member of the OSU Association, a member of the Public Accountants Society, a member of the Toast Masters, and an avid golfer. Throughout his life, James worked as a financial analyst and a professor at a couple local universities. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruth; children, Jennifer (Matt) Cooper, James W. Lanning II, and Christina (Pastor Shane) Wilcox; grandchildren, Michael, Gabriel, Lucy, Ryan, and Molly; siblings, Wilber (Judy) Lanning, Evelyn Gordon, Charles (Linda) Lanning; niece, Laurie, Sally, Cheryl, Mandy; and nephews, Pastor Rich, Phil, David, Craig, Ryan, and Kelly. Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 West Waterloo Street, Canal Winchester, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, with Pastor Tony Liuzzo officiating.
