SCHACHT Harold L. Schacht, age 85, of Canal Winchester, was given the gift of eternal life Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Grant Medical Center. Born November 9, 1927 in Columbus to the late Carl and Gladys (Schleppi) Schacht, he was a 1945 graduate of Canal Winchester High School and attended Ohio State University. He was a lifelong dairy farmer, and member of David Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was active on many boards and committees. As a leader in his community he served over a decade as member and president of the Canal Winchester School Board. He also belonged to the Board of Directors of Dairy Farmers of America and the Franklin County Farm Bureau. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne; children, Marilyn (Tom) Wilford, Wooster, Elaine (Bill) Jardine, Machipongo, VA, David (Lisa) Schacht, Dale (Terry) Schacht, both of Canal Winchester, Beth (Jim) Maston, Columbus; 14 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann (Carl) Zwayer, Groveport, and Mary (Al) DiCarlo, North Royalton; nieces and a nephew. Preceded in death by grandson Daniel Schacht. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 24 at David Lutheran Church, 300 Groveport Rd., Canal Winchester, with Pastors Dave & Beth Westphal officiating.
