KIRBY Ferd Gene Kirby Sr., born March 8, 1928, a kind and caring man who everybody loved, departed this life after a strong fight, Friday, November 16, 2012 at Mt. Carmel West. He was a tool and die welder at General Motors for 40 years. He always had laughter and smiles for everyone. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting pool, and of course, horse racing, where he was a proud owner of several thoroughbred race horses, and after all of these things, he always had a funny story to tell! He was a member of UAW Local #969 and Moose Lodge #11. Preceded in death by wife Juanita, daughter Rose Gene Bachelder. Survived by son, Ferd Gene (Terri Ann) Kirby Jr; daughters, Shirley (Al) Bortolon, Peggy Roberts and Terry Kirby; grandson, Bryan Bachelder as well as 10 other grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday. Entombment Greenlawn Cemetery.
