LATTANNER Joy Gears Lattanner, 84, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2012, at the Springfield Masonic Community. She was born November 16, 1928 in the beautiful hills of Hocking County in Jobs, Ohio to the late Elmer and Muriel Gears. Preceded in death by sister Laura Mae and brothers John and Charles. She graduated from the Murray City High School in 1945, valedictorian of her class. She entered Ohio University on an academic scholarship from Hocking County; met her loving husband, Rollie, and later graduated from Ohio University in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in education. Joy began her teaching career in 1949 at Byhalia High School in Union County. On March 4, 1951, Joy married Rollie whom she met at the First Methodist Church at the Wesley Foundation in Athens, Ohio. They moved to the Dublin area where they raised their family and lived for 53 years. Joy taught in the Columbus and Dublin school districts for many years. She was an active member of the Linworth United Methodists Church for 53 years, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, a group leader for the Camp Fire Girls, and Order of the Eastern Star. Joy and Rollie were blessed with their wonderful children, Eric (Betsy) Lattanner of South Bend, IN, Lori (Vince) McGuire of Columbus, and Lynn (Knox) Brown of Pittsburgh, PA. Joy's pride and joy were her grandchildren; Andrew, Micah, and Leah Lattanner, Zachary and Brian McGuire, and Kira and Addie Brown. In 2006 Joy and Rollie moved to the Springfield Masonic Community in Springfield, Ohio. Friends may call on December 28 from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Linworth United Methodist Church, 7070 Bent Tree Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43235.
