GRANNIS Mary Jean Grannis, 86, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, January 17, 2013. She was born December 8, 1926 in Lordville, New York to the late Michael and Mary (Fisher) Cuddihe. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class in 1944 from Deposit Central School in New York and a graduate of the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, where she was a member of the Phi Delta Chi sorority. She retired from pharmacy after working 27 years for Kingsdale Pharmacy where she also served as an OSU clinical instructor. Jean is preceded in death by her husband George Franklin Grannis, her sister Margaret (Cuddihe) Yevchak, and brother Donald Cuddehe. She is survived by her children, Mary Kathryn Grannis, Venice, California, Margaret Sue Grannis, Columbus, Ohio, William Michael Grannis, Lebanon, Indiana, and James Edward Grannis and his partner, Amy Hamrick, Columbus, Ohio; by her beloved grandsons, Logan Kafer Grannis and Connor Kafer Grannis; by several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and cousins; and by friend of over eighty years, Lillian (Weeks) Griffin, Wenatchee, Washington. Jean's daily life centered around family and friends. She was an avid reader who loved a good mystery novel. She enjoyed completing her daily crossword puzzle, playing bridge with her friends, and camping at the beach. She was an excellent gardener and for most of her life tended a vegetable garden as well as extensive flower gardens. She was also an excellent cook and hostess who created many memorable times hosting events for family and friends. Jean had a huge heart, and she will be remembered by those who knew her for her kind and generous spirit. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 26 at Saint Agatha Church, 1860 Northam Road, Upper Arlington, the Reverend M. Edward Hussey officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 409 Medina Street, Lodi, Ohio.
