Milton R. McKillip Obituary
McKillip Milton R. "Pete" McKillip, age 83 of New Albany, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013. Pete was born and raised in Tiffin, Ohio, son of the late Carl and Zola McKillip. Also preceded in death by his brother Richard McKillip. Pete graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School, Heidelberg College, and received his Masters from The Ohio State University. Pete was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country from 1951-1953 and retired as a Lt. Col. from the U.S. Army Reserves. Pete began his teaching career in Tiffin and spent time in Marysville, Gahanna, and New Albany. In 1958 Pete began working at Gahanna Lincoln High School where he was head football coach, teacher, and Assistant Principal. He later went on to become Principal at Stygler Rd. Jr. High School, Assistant Superintendant of Gahanna, and Treasurer of New Albany Plain Local Schools. He was a longtime member of Mifflin Presbyterian church where he served as an officer on various committees. Pete was a man of high integrity and devoted family man. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and sports, but most of all, Pete enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Velma McKillip; children, Randy (Karen) McKillip, Leslie (Bill) Lenhart and Ron (Kelly) McKillip; granddaughter, Caitlin McKillip; siblings, Donald (Jane) and Marlene McKillip; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Mifflin Presbyterian Church, 123 Granville St. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. Pastors Nancy Carle, Ron Lokhorst and Don Swift officiating. Interment Maplewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mifflin Presbyterian Church, 123 Granville St., Gahanna, Ohio 43230 or to the Gahanna Lincoln High School Athletic Hall of Fame, 160 S.
