Cole (Seabrook) Barbara Jane Cole, age 79, of Galena, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, February 19, 2013, surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice. Barbara was born June 21, 1933 at home in Mechanicsburg, OH, to the late Robert and Virginia Seabrook. She graduated from Urbana High School in 1951 and The Ohio State University in 1955. Barbara retired from Westerville City Schools after teaching for 25 years. Barbara taught at many schools in the district and was awarded Teacher of the Year. She impacted many students and fellow teachers' lives. Barbara loved reading and being with her grandchildren. She never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Her favorite place to relax was at her beach home on Emerald Isle, NC. Barbara married William (Bill) Cole June 13, 1954. A chance blind date led to 58 happy years. They had four children, Melissa Oakes, Westerville, OH, Jonathan (Donna) Cole, West Jefferson, OH, Megan (Rod) Mitchell, Raleigh, NC, Jeanne (Harry) Egler, Seattle, WA.; 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Mitchell, Raleigh, NC, Charley Mitchell, Florence, SC, Renee (Bruce) Robinson, Fort Hood, TX, Amanda Oakes, Mitchell Oakes, Westerville, OH, Will (Amanda) Cole, Honolulu, HA, Julie Cole, Columbus, OH, Jacob Egler, Portland, OR, and Sophia, Sarah and Harrison Egler, Seattle, WA.; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Caiden, Ellison and Liam Mitchell of Raleigh, NC. Barbara belonged to the Westerville New Horizon Retired Teachers Association and two book discussion groups. She played bridge monthly with four of her close friends enjoying lunch and fellowship. Barbara also enjoyed playing bridge and euchre with friends in her condo community. She made a number of trips with the Otterbein Cardinal Migration, Nationwide Retirement and Bill's Otterbein Country Club Fraternity groups. The memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Church of the Master UM, Westerville, OH (corner of Main and Grove) followed by fellowship and refreshments. Friends, if they wish, may contribute to the Church of the Master UM Church Memorial Fund, 24 North Grove Street, Westerville, OH 43081. Arrangements are in the care of HILL FUNERAL HOME, Westerville.
